Muffolini

This is more of a test than anything. If I manage to write more it will be a great way to remember things I have done, amazing places I have seen and most of all the strange people I have encountered.

Thankgiving Weekend

This weekend instead of sitting at a dinner table and eating Turkey I was convinced to do a mercy run of 7.5km to be done with a partner. Okay it doesn't sound difficult but put some major incline on that 7.5km and you have a tough test of my physical indurance. The race was called the " la castagna d'oro" or "The Chestnut of Gold". I want to know where that Chestnut of Gold was to be found - maybe in a safe somewhere. We completed the race in 41 minutes which was much better than I expected. I needed to be pushed to the finish line as I thought I was going to vomit. All that and not a sign of the Chestnut of Gold or a turkey. They say at Thankgiving 45 Million turkeys are eaten, but in Italy you cant even find one turkey in the supermarket with the bone-in. Oh well, who needs turkey when you have pasta.

GR20 - Hiking in Corsica

So I made in Corsica with only 3 pairs of underwear and 3 bras. How did I survive? With maybe 10 kilos on my back and 9 long days hiking. The most difficult day was the 4th. This is the day that I looked down into what I called the Valley of Death but has the official name of "the circle of solitude". Why do they call it this? Maybe because if you can't make it by yourself you just wont make it at all. Poles pretrude from the rocks with chains dangling, you are suppose to make down with the security of these rusty poles. Really the key is not to look down into the valley that is ready to swallow anyone that dares to stare 700 meters down into the mouth. Putting this aside and remembering the beautiful panoramic, waterfalls and pools of water it was more than worth travelling with 3 pairs of underwear.
